Patented wind turbine technology
Kestrel wind turbines represent the cutting edge of turbine technology which is patented. Kestrel wind turbines are unique in that they automatically adjust the angle (pitch) of their rotors to ensure that they never kick out (furl) from the wind. This has two major benefits:
- Maximum use of wind to produce electricity because they do not furl
- More constant power supply suitable for operations sensitive to power fluctuations
- Can operate in extreme winds of over 200km/h
Kestrel turbine systems offer you the choice of two options for the storage and use of the Green electricity they generate:
- Battery storage
- Battery with 'float'
Battery storage is the standard configuration for windturbines in general. In this sytem the electricity generated by the Kestrel wind turbine is stored in batteries which are safely housed in the base of the turbine. All eletrical cables leading from the top of the turbine are enclosed within the turbine's pole. When the batteries have been charged to maximum capacity the turbine will no longer charge the batteries and the excess electricity is lost. When there is no wind the batteries provide the electrical power. Duration of battery supply is dependant on the battery configuration.
Float
The 'float' system makes it possible to utilise excess electricity produced by the Kestrel turbine. i.e. When the batteries have reached their maximum charge any additional electricity can be fed directly into your electrical grid. In this situation you are directly using the electricity produced by the turbine rather than drawing it from the batteries. In future it may be possible to feed excess electricity into the National grid and to receive payment for it.
